Back to School Picnic at Mohawk – Call to Action!

The Mohawk Back to School Picnic is this Thursday (August 19th), from 4:30 to 6:30pm.  For the last few years, the CHIEFS have provided the meal at this event as our Fall fundraiser.  This year, the All School Read will kick-off in September, and the Picnic could help fund our involvement.

We need volunteers to help set up (2:00-3:30), cook (3:30-6:00), serve (4:30-6:30) and clean (6:30-7:00).

Our Menu:

  • Hot dog or Hamburger
  • Chips
  • Cookie
  • Drink
($5.00 each, $20.00 max per family)

This will be a great time to visit with the guys, eat a meal with the family and meet the teachers.  We look forward to seeing everyone outside by the grill!!

Please let us know ASAP if you are available to assist this Thursday.

CHIEFS Support Third Annual Mohawk Reads One Book Progam

For the second year in a row, the CHIEFS sponsored the Mohawk Reads One Book program by underwriting 100% of the cost of the books.  This program, led by Dee Ann Douglas, provides a selected book (“Shelter Dogs” by Peg Kehret) to each family at Mohawk Elementary.

The program is designed to encourage family reading over the summer.  On May 11th, The CHIEFS participated with Dee Ann Douglas (Librarian), Billie Snow (Principal), and Dr. David Simmons (Superintendent) in the distribution of the books to Mohawk students and parents.
